Under the Weather

On Tuesday hubby wasn't feeling well and his throat was itchy too. Although I've instructed hubby to sleep in another room until he gets better but of course that was useless. Today, Drakey has the same symptom as his daddy. Mild fever and itchy throat. He wasn't really coughing, only he kept cleaning his throat...ehem ehem and coughed a little.

I just hope that he won't have that high of a fever like 7 months ago when all 3 of us had fever(1 week the Mom, one week Son and one week Dad). That's the most tiring month ever! Also I think because of living to ourselves and Drakey not mingling with other kids, that's the last he ever got a high fever. Alhamdulillah he's being so well sometimes I think by myself, is it healthy for his age not to get sick... at all? Ada ka patut heh. I just didn't feel that it's normal for him not getting sick because from what I know little kids need to get sick so that they can build their immune system?

Please don't laugh at me, I'm just merely guessing and picking up one or two things that people have told me and haven't checked whether the basis to that statement is true or not.

Back to Drakey, he's his usual self today(Wednesday). He doesn't look that tired and runs around here and there and was a-okay when we went grocery shopping today. Typical of him lah, he'll only be lying down on the bed when his temperature hits really high, scary high. Itu pun, from my memory he would crawl down to the floor and start playing with his toys, fearing he'd be too dizzy or ndak larat, I would just get all of his toys on the bed and let him play there. But that was a long time ago, when he was 15 months.

Update:

Around 11pm, he cried due to a stuffed nose. I gave him a pillow, then he was okay. Later I put the cooling sticker on his forehead. Before I remembered there was any, I just put a wet towel on his forehead and once or twice put it on his body to cool him down, yala, Japanese style bah... old fashion. My mother always did that when I was sick during younger years. But I'm telling you, the new Japanese product(cooling head patch) is so remarkable.

I woke up for Subuh, his temperature was down a bit. His cheeks where not that hot, and also the rest of his body Alhamdulillah. Only that last night while finally watching SatC The Movie, he woke up and we weren't able to finish the half part of it. Well, Carrie and Mr. Big can wait heh. I don't know why he was awake, probably the coolness of the patch made his eyes freshly wide open(I kept the extra patches in the fridge's chiller). He kept saying Wazzat?(What's that?) Wazzat? When hearing crickets and motorcycles passing by. Only did I fell asleep and woke up again to find him sound asleep.

Update #2: On the second day, his temp. was more higher than the first day so by Maghrib I fed him liquid PCM and later at midnight I patched his head before I went to sleep.

On the 3rd day he was slightly better, his dad somehow gave him a bit of French Toast and he threw up twice. I guess his throat felt uneasy with all that oil. So after that, he just refused to eat! Before he puked he wanted to eat sweet stuffs only but after the big Puke he only wanted milk and more milk until he had diarrhea.

Haritu when Sa'eed had a bout of fever and coughing, papa gave me some Manuka Honey...which is supposed to be good for the throat. And apparently it is because he stopped coughing soon after I started him on it. And I also have some cough meds. Just holler if you want it for Idraki.

urm.. i think it's true that children get sick to build their immune system. it's just that maybe the viruses haven't found him since he stays at home.

adam pun sudah lama nda demam since august. maybe sebab dia selalu sakit dulu so maybe the body sudah kuat a bit? i also dunno.

but last july was the toughest for me. just like you, kami semua sakit, one after another. punya tension mau jaga dua orang! and then kalau tiga2 pun sakit, i still have to look after those 2! haishh..

get well soon little idraki!

I don't know how true is that, for children to get sick to build immune system. What about immune-threatening sickness.

I wouldn't deliberately give a child sickness. Every fever is a different evolving organism, hence, no matter how good the immune is, we will all fall ill.

Notice how we get the cold flu everytime? :-)

Ummi sa'eed: Alamak, I didn't know pulak u have cough meds. Manuka honey hari tu pun lupa lak nak bg idraki taste sebab hujan huargh... see how. Thanks very much!!

Farrah: It is tough to take care of two ppl in the house. I know what you mean. Especially for a working mommy kan. Sleep deprived and so many things to think about. Syukur la Adam is healthy these days :)

babybooned: thanks hon, very nice of you! ^_^

gallivanter: immune threatening sickness is very dangerous. palis2 oh kan. you're right, the flu/cold that we get is a different virus. luckily enough it's not that worrisome this time around. I would never want to deliberately get my child sick btw , it was just a thought. i should be more thankful and not think of such emotional thinking :)
